The End of the Folk dual 2006-2017

Well before anything can be born again it must die, and well the routines and antics ran its course, it did  grade some egos  and eventually nobody cared,. So with that the long venture with Red is over and i would say that , SC of all the people i have known over the years in an art context that being doing things together, on line , there has been no other artists i have been so close to, and i considered him as much about what i do as any of my artistic ego.  Alot of work was made about him  i mean alot! The folk dual my  burns and hickish rednecky bs created alot of work, mind surfing a reaction out of him , like  two kids making cartoons in class room of each other's drama,. all pivioting off of ebay's hi and lows and other idiots out there. but i started feeling the scene at least ebay has died,(crowds interests) .,Our work is as good as ever and will continue to improve, Reds newer stuff is great.  But the folk dual should have stopped some three years ago, but out of bordum and  like standing around in a waiting room  we start bullshiting , . For me Ebay has siezed up ,  . 
The friday 13th sale will be my only activity on there i suspect. but i have a ton of backstock i want to sell off but where??? I told one of our long time collectors Red has a bunch of this folk dual work ,(if haddnt destroyed it in a fit already)  as i do, i have three boxes of it, mine, his and all the fans and trolls out there who made work on it. But  i suspect, i give it 20 years from now my curiousity  to go back and romanicize the past will happen and ill be back on it,  I did have a blast posting and giving red some of the best comedy monologes i could muster but  what might be a fun drunken rant one night, by about a week a month or hell 8 years might be a bore. 

So it goes, and so did Red,  my best of luck to him and where be may venture next, ,.

Well whats going on?, i posted a bunch of work to Ebay and was surprised by what sold. i thought it would flatline as me and red are seeing the end of ebay as a whole, its like i told all my buyers off my old yahoo account mass email,. the work we are making is good better! but ebay isnt attracting any  new buyers other than the occasional impluse buyers,,.  or we are just a fad, but a fad that wont die!

Yea so why i started posting i wanted to riff off redmud pulling off it hijacked big blue pants and a crafter red clay bottle of paint, plus i saw some person who bid on some of my work threw it to anther auction  local and my secondary market was strong! whoa, 

there ya go, 
it inspired me to just take what ever , mainly paint in ink and cheap crafter paint keep it simple and  come up with these sorta red inspired folk paintings, plus last month as i was looking to distract myself, back in my home town , (my father had his second stroke) i was over there in Houston.

i also donated this one and only print to an local bar auction. the bar owner has serious medical issues at  Jacks Roadhouse bar here in San Marcos TX.
So as time rolls on , i am trying to set up in Marathon Tx my main studio but i have been pulled away by family issues and art shows, which next year the 13th jan blitz i want to be set up there come hell or high water

Well i cannt say my art auctions are doing great!, but there is a crowd out there that do buy, When i was over at Jack's Roadhouse trying make a drawing on a piazza box  spending a whole 20 bucks on beers and nachos, (which was good)  thinking well this drawing should fetch the bar tab on ebay  but  it, dont then WTF .,.,

 then i get a phone call from my  gallery in Austin i moved a 2500 buck painting!, , so i am here  making a drawing for an imaginary crowd on this random blog spot to go to ebay and some might nip or not.,.  Red has about had it maybe this whole deal is tanked,

Stratton Possum , who has  been killing himself on ebay , and making videos in some considerate efforts over the last couple of years more like four  emailed me and said he is done , good bye, no mass.,  which these two works are inspired copies of some of his last 13th work, ( and i would say he Stratton is a true 13th product who has taken to heart the anxiety of the posting crap  but you have to be a real masoshist to do it. Its just to bad none of the vastness of the net that we could imagine  that some people out there would had bought more and keep the ball rolling, but...

What me and red figured was  the nerd net collectors are very few and far between,   the bigger sales are made by the public they dont spend all their time on the net , like that other painting i sold  i talked to the buyer, she asked if i had a net gallery to check out more work?, Errrr ahhhhhh well there is all this whacky shit i got on here, which sold for 13 bucks!,  i was experanceing a collision of two world  basicly,.

This video, about folk art, is really a campaign advertisement about electing Donald Trump, as President of the USA in 2016. Chicken George 1236 might think conservatives are delusional. But, people such as Donald Trump, are actually American Folk Artists. (It is the ~Art of the Deal). ~True American Folk Art is about making a lot of ~money. If a businessman approached a crafter at a craft-fair, and said, ~We can make your crafts out of plastic in China, and then sell 200 million of them in the Dollar Stores. Your cut will be, about 10% of $200 million. Do you want to make a Deal?~ As a True American Folk Artist, the crafter would say, ~Where do I sign the contract, partner?~ ...... A crafter just might be, a not-very-good-artist, trying to make some money. Now, Chicken George 1236 would say, ~A real Artist has to be true to his Art. No plastic reproductions for me. My Art, is all real Art! ~ .... ... The kindhearted Georgia Red Mud would reply by just singing, ~I have a cat for a hat. I need nothing more!~ ........ Or else, Georgia Red Mud would let his twin brother, Daryll, answer, ~ I already got me some big tires for my truck, and Red Mud has a cat for a hat! The two of us are stickin' (staying) with real Folk Art!~ ... With knowledge that authentic Art always prevails, I can see, into the future: - President Donald Trump in a few years will proclaim, ~Chicken George and Georgia Red Mud, will be honored with a national kid parade-day.~ One half the kids would be wearing Chicken George type clothing with peewee cowboy hats on their heads. Double Dang, voluptuous Mexican Women Wrestlers, Wearing Mexican Wrestling Masks, as Folk Art, ~ sounds like a money making crafter item. .... It could even become a Made in China, plastic toy item given away in the local Burger Shacks! .... The kids would scream for Burger Shack burgers, in order to, collect the entire Voluptuous Mexican Women Wrestler, set. Plus, there could be life size plastic statutes of Mexican Women Wrestlers, as advertising icons, in front of the local Burger Shacks. .... The large plastic statutes of Voluptuous Women Wrestlers would attract more attention than the plastic statutes of ClownMcDonald and The ChickenJoint-Colonel. .... It is time to create real Art, before the idea is stolen by a crafter. Maybe, Chicken George could start his own Chicken Fast Food Franchises. = Maybe, they could be called: = Luchadoras. friday 13th bust boom etc the beginning of the The end for CBG13

Welcome to my new studio and next phase which has to kick into gear next year, and i am thinking of closing out chickengeorge style and on to these new/ old Big Bend ideas, like take all of the past and smash it into a painterly journalism on that area.

So as i mull over the past like 15 years of chicken george mentality i am thinking it might come to a close but i have a mountain of back stock and unfinished projects and plenty of late night drunken ramblings of genius to share. that  which have to be moved to the chicken house, out of storage so i am sorting threw stuff here,.

Halloween and the chicken Fence

So , its past the chicken fence sale,  one think i noticed is how my art stuff is revolved around dates

the whole method of m production is around the 13th and Halloween, i was telling folks here 

about what kind of paintings i was hanging on the fences its about the fence the look of it

the history of it, ,

one of the side notes to this sale was having this lady show up and ask me how much for a painting i said 60 buck she thought it was awfully high  and  wondered why if i am so famous am i selling on the lawn, of my house, i didnt want to go off on it,  but the more i told her about this and that, she just looked a me like i was just lieing through my teeth and said she said "here ill take this one " a chicken painting,  like i pulled on over on her,.    basicly i shouldnt being drinking coffee, it make me ramble

new slot machine work,

Well this is i guess some of my new slot machine work, its sorta based on the uncle sams coin banks
i started buying them off ebay these toy banks, only red beet up ones , thought they would make a good display, of some sorts, .
auction here , if anything i am building up for a massive display with these works, posting is a good lure to get me rolling.

alot of my abstracts the gravity of them seem to want to go to these like color bars,  like a machine ,

Reds new conflict, Tex Crawfish Fued

Yeap , i wanted to jump in bad on this one , but it seems Red is real serious about all this. There are three video that explain it (by Red) this one is the last,. , About a year ago my mind about exploded watching this one video, that popped up called "the outsiders" basically a promo or trailer for a reality based TV show featuring Sam-Kip-Eric these popular festival to folk artists around Georgia. This video because it evoked the long tortured word of folk/outsider  raises the bar on what a southern folk artist might be?,an outcast? poor? eccentric?,the whole Blues suffrage deal, thats a a start, but what we get is this singsong, quirky bad crafters, halmark like,"bad art" (maybe) zone more in tune with music festival art  like fan art?. but , .. ok so what! , whats the big deal ? who cares its made for a Lifetime channel plug its suppose to be "Feel good art entertainment"., well for me i tried to explain it in a set of videos called "outside the craft"  which dug deep to figure out why this was so profoundly alarming, and the trouble this video (the outsider) promo trailer ,might have or get into., One was if they think people are going to sympathize and feel for the artist's  daily lives they will, but! there is something far more dubiously funny at hand that i had a gut feeling about. It the "honey booboo " syndrome in which they are going to be made fun of, for being pathetic, pityful, silly, carefree (evoking all these folk art sterotypes) as such. . for some reason i harken back of that song "Shiny happy people"thats am Athens folk art song!. I don't know what the hell you call it by, or  why i would have such  issues with it there has to be a term i am missing  about why i want to vomit so much about this kind of art! how to stop myself from obsessing over this level of sillyness children's kitch might have  but made by hairy old hippy guys who just found out they want to be an artist,,. help me out folks.!, Well this video Red made basically is the summery of what he feels about it. i warned him years ago don't do it, don't address this , "its like your in happy town and your mister Grinch here, it will take you down boy!" One of the prophetic notes to that Outsiders vid promo  revealed was this bearded joker fellow  called "Tex", this Georgia folk artist who you got to observe his art  works in his both that he was standing in at some fair. I noticed two things in it right off . two of Red inspired works and some of Chubbs, obviously he was a fan of their work. So i pointed it out to Red, "now this chap right there has it in him".  Me and Red see things differently,  If i put myself in his shoes , and if i was in an exhibit , group and i found a dude or dudete basically  making stylistic copys of my work ,hanging in the very show i was in, i would buy this guy a beer and invite him over and train them right,  because i own their soul or, they look up to me and who would be stupid enough to put a copy of a painting i did in a group show, if not as a parody, or if serious then they have some maturing to do  basically.  but none the less its their bad, they will own it down the line. (Red worrys people wont figure that part out) like i told Red never do an in the "in the manor of" .. or stylistic copy  unless you want to live it down!, you better love it cause it tells of the pathway to the  center of what one does as an artist maybe its something to out grow?.
Me and Red like Frances Bacon, i don't mind living down my inspired look a likes of him,  actually i am proud of that cause i love Bacon,.

I have written about crafterism why its  not art with a capitol A in it, its flee market stuff Etzy stuff created to meet a market., That when for some fucked up reason a "crafter" does manage to make Art out of it, there is always something more to the story.  i told  Red many times over that you cannt be hanging out in cat house lecturing people on what real love is,  while getting fucked, but then again if you like sex ...you get paid or not it dont mater.
same thing goes with art, Crafterism is trinket stuff,

So I guess a bigger question is why are we so invested in some grown up, hairy, fat guy who would be makeing  cartoon kitty cats(or whatever) paintings to sell to funky old ladys with to much pazaz on there hands at a craft fair so important??? maybe we are the assholes here for careing?lol . I always saw this  as art drama, things that have a soap opera history to it, but  this is the wacked out world of crafter to folk art to bad art to this net crap to the storys and sagas that go along with it, the "downer cow" is a prime example.  Just think some 25 years from now  if any of this work survives  and is hanging on the wall of a trailer in Alabama or in an antique store maul some old  picker lady will be telling the twisted and angry stories of the souths most pissed off artists, and why they fought to unfuck themselves from sentimentalism and hippyism and crafterism that beset their paranoid soul of being carpetbagged.
a Battle that sounds more like a denial than that of matter of taste. 

So as the folk dual between me and Red   sorta trails off  its had its moments of comedy but its a joke that is told over and over plus just how nasty stupid and debasing of our art do we  really want to be about it, ebay is dead and the script might have to move on to something else at least for me.

on this fence it was made in 2000 its been up a while , well the street is being widened and i am losing about 5 feet off the front which means the fence is being moved back

so, i am trying to raise some funds to rebuild it, so....

folk dual over??? Red Mud vs Chicken G

Well folks this is less about auctions but more about this artistic relationship i have had with Red Mud Chandler over the years  , he wants to be done with it kaput finished move on out of folk, and
sense ebay is sucking ass , which has been like that for how long? , the hay day of ebay was about maybe seven years ago for me, but things do move from time to time.

the hay day is over basiclly , on to something else, well at least for him, i think its just a good habit i like , like some addiction, of posting and blogging , i actually don't know where i would be, , my CDC site, or Chickendeadchicken.com is there but frozen up with old software,
Red has been many topic entrys and folk dual has been a big subject, .  so he has a painting up

So , i always thought  folk dual will go on forever , until the net crashes  or we grow up, one thing about post work here its like fishing, with current topics, there is so much fucked up shit on the net it writes itself , or paints itself, . i always saw it like painter journalism and drama satire to a degree.  but its been like 10 years, 2004 was the start of all this, i ask myself has this fucked up my art production hummm, what is it? one thing i do know i don't know many other other than Red who keeps posting,  or can keep up with it.
